AMER MARITIME TRAINING ACADEMY was established in 2002 in the city of Kanpur, hometown of the Executive Chairman of the founder of the institute, Dr. Ravi Kumar Mehrotra CBE.

Below mentioned courses are mandatory requirement of Directorate General of shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport Govt. of India, before anyone joins a Merchant vessel, in any category. We have highly qualified faculty which includes D.G. Shipping approved Master Mainers, Chief Engineer, Doctors and Ex Indian Naval Instructor to supervise and conduct the courses as per the guidelines of DG shipping. These STCW courses are now upgraded to STCW 2010 standards.

The courses are as follows:

1. Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting

2. Personal Safety & Social Responsibility

3. Elementary First Aid

4. Personal Survival Techniques

5. Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties.

AMTA also conducts Maritime English Course as per the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) guidelines so that students from rural area may be helped in English to perform better on ships. English is the official language of any ship which has different nationalities on board.

AMTA is also certified as ISO 9001:2008 by UKAS

AMTA has designed a” Rig Familiarization Course for beginners” for the candidates joining rigs of the company, for them to have a better knowledge of working on rigs in 2008.

In 2014 International Association of Drilling Contractors, Houston USA has accreditated following courses to be conducted in the academy:

1. Rig Familiarization Course for Beginners, first time in India

2. HSE Rig pass Program

3. Crane operations and cargo handling

4. H2S Awareness and SCBA

5. Fall protection

6. Personal Protection Equipment

7. Confined Space Entry

The above mentioned courses give sufficient knowledge required for working on board the Jack Up drilling Rigs in the offshore Industry. Academy has been highly commended in 2013 “Lloyd’s list Awards” for Middle East and Indian Subcontinent region.

AMTA has hostel facility for 16 candidates.
